Outcrop Reference Database

The Outcrop Reference Database (ORD) is a searchable online resource of outcrop images and 3D models collected globally. The ORD is divided into 3 key subject areas – Structure and Tectonics, Clastic Sedimentology and Carbonate Sedimentology.

The ORD is now live and can be accessed here - Nautilus 3D – ORD.

Subscriptions
A user subscription is not required to search the ORD and view a preview of the content. Access to the full database requires an annual subscription. For further details please contact us.

Demonstration Models
Unrestricted access has been given to 2 complete reference elements. These can be accessed on the homepage and gives full access to images and models of the following examples:

  • Continental Clastic - Meander-belt sandstone body, Lower Cretaceous, Isle of Wight, UK
  • Shore Zone/Deltaic Clastic: Tidal estuary sandstone, Lower Cretaceous, Isle of Wight, UK

Viewing the 3D Models
To view the 3D Models, your browser needs to have WebGL enabled. The ORD works best on a desktop/laptop computer running Chrome, Firefox or Safari. The database contains 3D models and video flythroughs. A mouse, trackpad or touchscreen is required to explore the models.

Demonstration Access
For a 5 day period, RPS can provide NTA Member Companies a short term demonstration license that will enable users to search and view content of the ORD. For further details please contact us.

On site risk assessments, calibrations and notice to authorities
Flight planning and survey methodology
Photographic and video survey of outcrops
Processing of data to create 3D point clouds, Orthomosaics and Digital Elevation Models
Creation of mesh and texture to create finished 3D Model for interpretation and exploring.
